Privacy Policy

Central Valley SDP is a program of Central Valley Regional Center (CVRC). We help people with developmental disabilities — and the families, facilitators, and providers around them — understand and self-direct their services.

Effective date: October 1, 2026 · Last updated: October 1, 2026

The short version (plain language)

  • We only collect what we need to help you — like your name and email if you sign up for updates, or what you send us when you contact us.
  • We do not sell your information. Ever.
  • If you opt in to text messages, you can stop anytime by replying STOP.
  • You can ask us what we have about you, fix it, or delete it. Just contact us.
  • This site can be translated by machine and may use AI-assisted content. When an image is made or changed by AI, we label it.
  • If someone helps you make decisions — a family member, supporter, or conservator — they may use this site with you or for you.

If you only read this part, that’s okay. The fuller detail is below.

More detail

Who we are and how to reach us

This site is run by Central Valley SDP, a program of Central Valley Regional Center. For any privacy question, or to make a request about your information, contact us at [privacy contact email] or [phone], or by mail at [mailing address]. CVRC’s organization-wide privacy policy is at [CVRC privacy policy URL]; where the two differ, [CVRC’s policy / this policy] governs — confirm with counsel.

What we collect

Information you give us.

  • Newsletter / updates sign-up: your name, email address, and (if you choose to give them) your phone number, your role (participant, family member, provider, or other), the catchment area/county you’re in, and the meeting or topic interests you select. You also choose whether to opt in to email and/or text-message updates.
  • Contact form: your name, email, and whatever you write to us.
  • Provider/service directory (planned): if you are a provider who lists with us, the contact and service information you submit, including availability.
  • Event submissions (planned): if you are an approved community member who posts an event, the event details you provide.

Information we collect automatically.

  • Basic, mostly aggregated usage data (which pages are visited, general device/browser type) through [analytics tool], to understand what’s helpful and improve the site.
  • Cookies — essential ones that make the site work, and optional ones you control through our cookie banner. See Cookies and your choices below.
  • Standard server logs (such as IP address) kept for security and reliability.

A note on care. Because we serve people with developmental disabilities, we deliberately keep collection to a minimum and do not ask for more than we need. We do not request sensitive details (such as diagnosis or medical information) through this website.

How we use your information

  • To send you the updates you asked for, in the way you chose (email and/or text).
  • To answer you when you contact us.
  • To run and improve the site, events, and — when available — the provider directory that helps connect people with services.
  • To meet legal and program obligations as a CVRC program.

We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you, and we do not profile you for advertising.

Text messages (SMS)

If you opt in to text updates, you are agreeing to receive messages at the number you give us. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP at any time to stop, or HELP for help. Opting in to texts is never required to use this site or our services, and we do not share your phone number for anyone else’s marketing. (Counsel to confirm TCPA consent language and any short-code/long-code terms.)

Machine translation and AI

This site offers machine translation (so you can read it in English, Spanish, Hmong, or Punjabi). Translated text is processed by an automated service (DeepL, via TranslatePress) and may not be perfect; the English version is the official one. Where we use AI-generated or AI-altered images or media, we label them, consistent with California’s AI transparency law. We review AI-assisted content for accuracy before publishing, with a person in the loop.

When we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising (as those terms are used under California law). We disclose information only:

  • to trusted service providers who operate the site on our behalf (for example, our website host, our email/SMS delivery service, and our analytics provider), under agreements that limit them to that work;
  • to CVRC, as the organization this program belongs to, consistent with this policy; and
  • when required by law, or to protect safety and rights.

Your privacy rights

Under California law (including the CCPA/CPRA), you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we have about you and how we use it;
  • correct information that’s wrong;
  • delete your information; and
  • limit or opt out — though, again, we do not sell or share your information for advertising.

We will not treat you differently for using these rights. To make a request, contact us at [privacy contact email]. We may need to confirm your identity first. If someone is making a request on your behalf (such as an authorized representative or conservator), we may ask for proof they can act for you. (Counsel to confirm verification steps and response timelines — generally 45 days under CCPA.)

Children and supported decision-making

This site is for the SDP community and is not directed at children. We serve people with developmental disabilities across many ages, and we respect that some people use supported or substitute decision-making. Family members, supporters, or conservators may use the site together with, or on behalf of, a participant. (Counsel to confirm handling of any information about minors and of representative consent.)

Cookies and your choices

We use a cookie-consent tool that lets you accept or decline optional cookies and change your mind later. Essential cookies are needed for the site to work. You can manage your choices anytime through [cookie settings link / banner].

How long we keep information and how we protect it

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as the law requires, then dispose of it securely. (Add specific retention periods — e.g., newsletter data until you unsubscribe — once confirmed.) We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect your information, though no website can promise perfect security.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes, we’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date, and — where appropriate — let subscribers know.
